BALTIC SEA FORUM

 

The Baltic Sea Forum was founded in 1992 as Pro Baltica Forum e.V., a Finnish-German interest group. The Forum renamed itself on the 20th March of 2003 in order to express its focus on the whole Baltic Sea region.


This non-governmental organisation actively supports a network of companies, institutions and professionals in the Baltic Sea region. Its goal is to strengthen economic and political international partnerships between the Nordic and Baltic countries, Germany, Poland and Northwest-Russia.

PASSENGER TRANSPORT BY SEA IN THE EU
  • Ports in the EU-28 handled 412 million passengers in 2011, a 4 % decline compared to 2006.

  • Ports in Italy and Greece handled 20 % and 19 % of the EU-28 total respectively; followed by the ports in Denmark (10 %).

  • From 2006 to 2011, the most remarkable increase in the number of seaborne passengers was reported by Latvia (approximately fourfold).
