Connecting the Baltic Sea Region

Transport highlights on 14th June!

The 8th Annual Forum of the EU Strategy of the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR) will take place on the 13th and 14th June in Berlin. The event will be hosted by the Federal Forgein Office. The motto of the forum is connectivity in all its interpretations.

Linking-up regions within the Baltic Sea Region (BSR), but also beyond, a well-developed transport infrastructure is the backbone for regional prosperity. Additionally clean and innovative transport solutions for passenger and freight transport are key issues for connecting the BSR.  Soft preconditions to meet the current developments and future challenges are lying in an improved coordination with EU, national and regional levels and especially in mobilization of regional stakeholder to take part in the process.

Regarding this the current running EUSBSR flagship project Scandria®2Act together with the policy area coordinators of transport of the EUSBSR and flagship projects TENTacle and NSBCoRe will held a seminar called “Regional cooperation to connect regions to the TEN-T corridors” on 14th June 2017 at the forum. The main topic will be:

  • Urban nodes: interfaces of the CNC and engines for regional growth and Innovation
  • Inclusive approach to the CNC dialogue, including the access to the peripheral and remote
  • Spatial vision on corridor development as a unifying element of stakeholder cooperation

Additionally the closing plenary session of the forum “Transport as a Driver for Innovation and Regional Growth” will highlight the challenges of future transport developments.
